MEMORIAL AWARDS

The following are awards that were presented in Ryan's name. 

 

Ryan Lee Mohn Memorial Foundation Scholarship

May 2005 marked the first year for the Memorial Foundation scholarships to graduating seniors from the Steel-High Class of 2005.

 

2008 Scholarship Winners

$2,000 scholarships were awarded as follows:

Blaine Zimmerman - Female Academic Scholarship

Cachet Haigh - Female Athletic Scholarship

Pavel Ivashchuk - Male Academic Scholarship

Donald Poligone - Male Athletic Scholarship

 

2007 Scholarship Winners

$2,000 scholarships were awarded as follows:

Jessica Mills - Female Academic Scholarship

Zoe Holder - Female Athletic Scholarship

Trey Hollern - Male Academic Scholarship

Thomas Zimmerman - Male Athletic Scholarship

 

2006 Scholarship Winners

$2,000 scholarships were awarded as follows:

Ashlee Mohn - Female Academic Scholarship

Hope Hoerner - Female Athletic Scholarship

Josh Neubaum - Male Academic Scholarship

Brian McGrady - Male Athletic Scholarship

 

2005 Scholarship Winners

$1,500 scholarships were awarded as follows:

Katelyn Siegfried - Female Academic Scholarship

Alishaa' Phillips - Female Athletic Scholarship

Thomas Smith - Male Academic Scholarship

John McFall - Male Athletic Scholarship

In addition, the following seniors received $500 honorable mention scholarships:

Lions Club Ryan Mohn Academic/Athletic Scholarship

In 2004, the Steelton Lions Club began sponsoring a $2,000 academic/athletic scholarship in Ryan's name.  The 2006 winners were as follows:

$1,000 - Larry Herndon

$1,000 - Samantha Zema

2005 Capital Area All-Star Basketball Camp Awards

The Capital Area All-Star Basketball Camp, run by Ken Richter of the Central Dauphin East Panthers, continued to honor Ryan's memory through awards presented at the end of each week's camp.  The camps were held June 13-17, 2005 and June 20-24, 2005.  One camper from each age group was awarded the Ryan Mohn Best Camper Award.  The winners from the 2005 camp were:

June 20-24, 2005

NCAA (ages 11-13) - Robert Wilson
NBA (ages 14-15) - Shane Sweigart

June 27-July 1, 2005

NCAA (ages 7-8) - Alexander Marsico
NBA (ages 9-10) - Chris Rozman

Ryan started attending this basketball camp at the age of 7 when Ken was head coach at Steel-High.  After Ken left Steel-High to coach at East, Ryan continued to attend this camp through his Freshman year.  The Mohn family is honored that Ken continues to give this award in Ryan's memory.
